Here's what we will do for our site launch contests:

1. Everyone who refers at least one new member will be put into a random for $50 to be awarded Friday Oct 10 at 8:00 Pacific time. I beg you to only recruit people who are at least open or undecided about the subject matter of this site, or who could contribute in a constructive manner here. To get credit for a referral, all you need to do is have the person list your name in the "referred by" field when they register, I can run a system report to see who qualifies.

2. I'd like to put a short bible verse next to each section - see the Men's section for an example. I'll start a thread in the Bible verse section - please name the section and what you believe is the best verse for it. Everyone who suggests at least one verse for any section will be entered into a random drawing for $50, to be awarded Friday Oct 10 at 8:00 Pacific time. 3. Everyone who makes at least one post on this site by Oct 10 will be entered into a random drawing for $50, to be awarded Friday Oct. 10 at 8:00 P.M. Pacific. However, if you are the first person to start a nice, appropriate post in a section on this site that is currently blank and has no thread in it, I'll put you in for 3 entries into this particular drawing.

4. Best thread, post or other contribution to this site: I'll nominate five members who I feel have made the greatest contribution to help get this site started, and will announce those names on Oct 10 at 8:00 Pacific time. Then, I'll put up a vote that will last for 5 days. Winner of that vote will receive $100, second place winner will receive $50.

All awards above will be paid by Paypal. You must have a Paypal account to win. It's not hard to start one, even Faabio figured it out. I will gladly, and in fact be thrilled, to donate your prize to the charity of your choice if you win, but it's up to you, I'll also gladly Paypal you the cash.

Idea:
Get some feedback from members about what their favored charities are. Start a poll, run it for a week or two - winning charity gets that $150. Maybe split the amount between two in case of a tie or near-tie.

That way, instead of rewarding individual contributions and participation, we are encouraging participation in the spirit of service.

Maybe this will even spark some discussion about charity, volunteering, etc.
