Having been in the shadows of depression and suicide myself, I know what it's like to have that moment where you are finally done with it all, and want out.

I also know what it is like to draw the strength from someone or something to continue another day, and to find the resolve to begin the path to recovery. I was fortunate enough to have someone nearby, who loved me, who I was able to lean on for support.

The way out of that darkness varies for different people. For some it's the realization that they are loved and needed, or responsibility to their children, taking up something new, for others it's a form of religion, or some combination thereof.

I'm sincerely glad you've found what works for you.

Eric - good luck to you. I hope this helps turn your life around. If you truly have found God and faith and all thaty - why not end all the hatred on your last site? I mean, isnt that a testament and your legacy? A site dedicated to embarassing, humiliating , and insulting people? YOU created it, and thats about THE most unchristian thing you can do. So, if this IS all real, prove it. Get rid of the hatred site. But of course you wont - you'll stammer and stutter and mutter something about the guy you left in charge. But the truth is - you wont.

You're in my prayers Eric. I think its great that you've given your life over to Christ As some have already said, its definitely not an easy road by any means, but its by far the best. The Lord will not give us more than we can bare, so just stay strong and I'm sure God will continue to do great things in your life.

My last site (eq2flames.com, a video game site) has nothing to do with this one. I created that site over two years ago. I've only been saved since June 2008.

I agree that site - a flame board - promotes argument, which is not a Christian value. Since Usenet in 1992, my main hobby was being a daily participant in leading Internet flame boards. The main purpose of those boards is for people to argue with each other. As you may be able to tell from the fact I stopped participating in that site beginning several months ago, except to politely reply to a few posts and talk about this new one, I'm no longer interested or involved in the behavior represented by that and similar sites.

But I can't kill that site, I'm only the 50% owner of it. I can't destroy property that doesn't belong to me. All I can do is renounce it and stop using it. I've already been donating the small share of profit I receive from that site to charity.

It's my belief that God forgave all my sins when I was saved, including all those I committed on that site when I was argumentative and hateful toward others. There is nothing illegal on that site, and no pornography, racism or anything else I know to be sinful, except for people boasting and arguing about video games.

That other site has served as a platform to launch this one, and so has served the Lord in that regard. I've taken significant criticism and persecution on that site by talking about my faith in Christ and announcing this new site. I'm not sure I could have possibly come out stronger or made a greater demonstration of my new faith than I've done. But that's all good. My point is that the purpose of this site is to glorify and praise God.

And finally, I believe that God wants us to bring others to him, and we can't do that if we only hang out with others who are saved. And a main purpose of this site is to promote interaction between saved and sinners, as stated in the first paragraph of our Site Rules:
I'm convinced that maintaining a conduit between that site and this one is in accordance with the teachings and examples of Jesus, for example:
The bottom line is, I can't call sinners to repentance if I shun them and destroy their meeting place.

Thats all well and good , Eric. But still a bit hypocritical. Fine - you cant take it down, but you ARE co-owner - end the flaming. Keep it as a strategy only site. You seem to be saying "well Im a christian here, but not over there". Yes, the (/eyeroll) sinners are the ones who need to be helped, but doesnt that help begin by getting them off the "path of hatred"? The site is not only nonchristian - it actively PROMOTES values that you now say you espouse. If thats true, then do something about it. You gave encouragement to that behavior now put a stop to it.

Jesus didnt tell the sinners to "go ahead go right on sinning and inf fact heres a place to keep on sinning as a group" did he? End the hatred part of the site. Again, you wont. keep it as a meeting place, but end the hate there. If you're going to embrace these values - embrace them 100% Youre in or you're out - which is it?

This is my last post on the subject as I dont want to be insulting but I do stand by these opinions.

It's true that other site consists mostly of a great number of unbelievers insulting and being hurtful toward each other.

As I said, I've repented that activity and no longer participate in it.

But I do not feel that continuing to own a 50% stake in that site and donating my share of the proceeds from that site to charity is in opposition to the teachings and examples of Jesus. I feel that I can best serve the Lord with that site, and bring people to Him, by being seen as a positive example to those who use that site.

LFJC, you're misunderstanding him, it's not 100% HIS site, he only has 50% of it, of that 50% any profit he gains goes to charity, pretty admirable imo, also, he's been pretty absent from the forums over there lately so he's definately not promoting the behavior on flames, also, if you want to remember you're scripture, and my pastor has said it many times, I'm not quoting verbatum here, just the general meaning, you don't bring in sinners by sitting in the church seats on sunday or wed nite, you won't bring them in by having a "christian only" website where only like minds are invited, if those at flames want to come and see what's offered here, and a few mindsets are changed because of it...well holy cow, something's made a difference. remember, it's not the sinners the devil wants, he already has them, it's us he wants and he'll do whatever it takes, even by trying to cause dissention on a new site like this that's only trying to do good, so let's not let that happen?

Your missing the point, Eric won't destroy the site because it's not his position to condemn those who still actively use the site.

Stop focusing on the past, he made the site, he argued on it, he is ashamed of some of his actions he took on that site, but that site is not at all what your making it out to be, and Eric is NOT who he was before, he is someone different, someone trying to make change in a static world.

Also EQ2flames.com promotes free information, and anything that promotes that has my support.

Only through knowledge can we, as humans, better ourselves, and learn from our mistakes.
