I actually came to this site with every intention of explaining you the reality of christianity. I can't however becuase you had a reality altering event. Given your blinding flash of white light (this happened to Paul fyi although I dont think he recovered as quickly as you did.) noone can argue against this.

Just know this Eric. The majority of your piers have issues which lead them down this path. By your own words you have the cookie cutter signs of someone who had a kind of mid life emotional break down. I'm going to assume you are a smart guy and you would know the diffrence though.

All in all god is way more "REAL" than the way sunday school teaches. Since you had the same expierance Saul or "Paul" did though I would start with Romans.

I grew up with this and unfortunately know way more than the average person does about the bible how it was created ect. I even thought about being a minister. The more research I did into it though the more road blocks I hit. I'm pretty sure god exists. I'm also pretty sure your sunday school christianity has no idea what there really worshiping.

John Calvin found something interesting in the bible. He thought it was so compelling that he even went against the catholic church and eventually started his own denomination. One of the more compelling things he found was called Election or Predestination.

Its supported through Romans but more importantly through christ himself. It basically states that everyone is dead in sin. It's a miracle that anyone would actually believe in god and can only do so when god intervenes.. (Like how he did with you Eric.) Baically its stating only a very small number of people can be saved becuase he deems it so. It also states that those people can only be saved becuase he has gone in and changed there hearts..

So wait what about so for god so loved the world he gave his only begotten son stuff??!?! The kicker is god so loved the world that he gave us his only begotten son so whoevere "BELIEVES" in him will not perish but have everlasting life... believes is the kicker there. God states many times that it is against human nature to believe in god after the whole adam and eve fiasco. Since god has to interve so you will believe in him and somehow allow your heart to be changed his is in control.

I had a friend that was mormon who will probably burn in hell consdering she doesnt really believe jesus is the son of god and worse yet they believe they can obtain godhood. She didnt really have much a choice when I knew her I mean she was brought up mormon. Really nice girl with more humanity and compassion than most other people I know. This is the kicker sin is all the same to god. Look at some of the christians in the bible.

Look at Paul he killed christians then came back and repented becuase god changed him and is probably sitting in heaven as I type this.

The moral of the story is god doesnt really care about all us personally. It's pretty clear biblicly he has a qouta to fill and that we shouldnt question it. He created Hell which is suppsoedly eternal punishment if he is dumping the majority of the human race there.. well doesnt that suck for the 99 percent of humantity that god doesnt intervene and save? Is it possible to reject god? Very very unlikely most christians dont understand that god calls you to spread the word to glorify him. Christians also do a great job the majority of time by turning people away anyway...



All in all Im open to being wrong here its why I posted. My view isnt very well known for a reason. Most people that come to understand it are chosen anyway and therefore dont question it. The other majority never really know anything about the bible but the spefic scriptures that they pick and choose for whatever reason. Worse yet they allow there minister/priest to tell them how god is and never really delve into it themselves.
