Excellent statement regarding Matthew 7:1, UltimaOmega. I would also like to add verse 7:2 to the discussion, since the #1 rule of Bible interpretation is context.

This passage at the start of Matthew 7 is specifically dealing with hypocrisy, in this case, applying double standards. If you read the rest of Matthew 7, you will see that there are two statements that would require some kind of value judgment (7:6, pearls before swine, and 7:16-17, by their fruit you will recognize them).
Now, for my favorite Bible verse:

This verse has been great encouragement to me when I'm feeling overwhelmed and exhausted, because it reminds me that when I'm in line with God's will and relying on His power, He will give me what I need to accomplish what is needful.
